WOODCUTTER'S SHIRAZ 2020 Barossa Valley, South Australia
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer TORBRECK
This is the 13th Vintages release yet and the highest scoring to date! Extremely deep intense purple ruby colour. Intense, very attractive, complex, spicy, ripe, black cherry-blueberry crumble nose with some faintly smoky, cedary notes. Dry, medium-full bodied, harmonious, well structured, intense, ripe, plummy, black cherry and cassis flavours with a lingering, fairly high acid, gently cedary, wonderfully harmonious, slightly smoky, complex finish. This very classy, mouthfilling, 100% Shiraz has 15% alcohol, 2 g/L residual sugar and a hefty 6.3 g/L total acidity with lot number G238203262033 on the lower part of the glass bottle. Unfiltered and aged for 12 months in well-seasoned French oak hogsheads and Foudre. The screwcap closure means that it can probably keep for another decade in a proper wine cellar. CSPC 927533

TASTING NOTE: Shiraz sourced from the parishes of Marananga, Greenock, Seppeltsfield, Gomersal, Moppa, Lyndoch and Ebenezer. Matured 12 months in older French oak. Bright red purple in the glass and showing a ripe, pure core of juicy satsuma plum and red cherry with a splash of mulberry lift. Hints of exotic spice, purple flowers and earth wrap the opulent fruit with fine sandy tannin in support and just a hint of heat on the savoury exit. Drink by: 2027.
