Crognolo 2019 IGT Toscana
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer Tenuta Sette Ponti
Bright deep intense ruby-purple colour. Very attractive, intense, slightly spicy, ripe, plummy, red cherry nose with some mineral-tinged, cedar-sandalwood notes. Dry, medium to medium-full bodied, well structured, harmonious, gently spicy, intense, ripe, plum, red-and-black-cherry flavours with a lingering, bright, gently cedary, raspberry- sandalwood-tinged finish. This very tasty blend of 90% Sangiovese and 10% Merlot has 14% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with a lot number L0222N on the back label. Quite ready-to-drink, this 2019 is even better than the recommended 2018 (***) that was released on April 16, 2022. CSPC 727636

TASTING NOTE: Sweet berries, flowers and cedar on the nose. Some leather, too. It's medium- to full-bodied with lightly chewy tannins and a long, flavorful finish. Shows tension and brightness. Excellent structure. Drinkable now, but better in 2023. Score - 94 (jamessuckling.com, Aug. 4, 2021) Price $ 34.95
