Vacqueyras 2018 AC
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer Lavau
Located just north of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Vacqueyras a AOC in 1990. This 2018 edition of Lavau is one the best yet - amazing value. Deep intense purple colour, it has a lovely, intense, complex, faintly smoky, ripe, plum-black-cherry puree nose with some faintly smoky, sandalwood-cedar notes. Dry, medium-full bodied, harmonious, intense, ripe plum-cherry-cassis flavours with a slightly spicy, gently cedary, lingering, bright finish. This delicious blend of 50% Grenache, 40% Syrah and 10% Mourvèdre with 14.5% alcohol and 3 g/L residual sugar with lot number L200404G on the back label and on the lower part of the glass bottle. To keep fruit-focused, only 40% of the wine is aged in previously used French barrels - the balance in stainless steel vats before being assembled after 12 months of aging. Perfectly ready to drink now. CSPC 104927
