FRAPPATO VITTORIA 2019 DOC
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer PLANETA
The FRAPPATO grape variety is not on everyone’s bucket list. Indeed, in the last 20 years, this is only the fifth release of it’s kind in Vintages and the fourth from the esteemed Planeta winery who first started producing wine from this indigenous rare Sicilian variety grown in Vittorio on the southeast coast only 9 years ago. This distinctive medium light red has a gently complex, slightly spicy, faint licorice-tinged, fresh, ripe, plum-cherry-pomegranate nose with some mineral notes. Dry, medium to medium-light bodied and yet quite well structured, it has bright, ripe, well integrated, plum-cherry-strawberry flavours with a lingering, fairly high acid, sandalwood-tea finish. It is perfectly ready-to-drink and yet has a refreshing seam of acidity running through it suggesting that it can still age. This unoaked 100% Frappato has 12% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number L201033 on the back label. CSPC 508655
