SHIRAZ 2019 Barossa Valley, South Australia
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer SCHILD ESTATE
Wow, how different this 2019 is from the 2018! Both are great buys but the 2019 has more elegance and mouthfeel. An extremely tasty, elegant, crowd-pleasing Barossa Shiraz that must not be missed. Very deep intense purple colour. Intense, very faintly smoky, juicy, ripe, plummy, black cherry nose with some sandalwood-cedar notes. Dry, medium-full bodied, nicely structured, gently spicy, harmonious, intense, ripe, plummy, red/black cherry purée flavours with a lingering, cassis-tinged, bright, cedary finish. Matured for approximately 18 months in French and American oak. Has 14.5% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number L20036 on the back label and L20254 on the lower part of the glass bottle. Screwcap closure. The best buy 2018 (***) with 90-points was released on September 4, 2021 at $19.95. CSPC 66555

A Best Buy
TASTING NOTE: Peppercorns and plums. This wine is awash with the flavours of them. It's a very good release, forward and fruit-driven, full of running, generous. It's almost as if the wine comes at you; it has that kind of momentum, that kind of energy. Add choc, chicory and earth notes and you get the picture. Put this on your buy list. Drink 2020-2025+.
