LE PUY EMILIEN 2018 France
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer CHÂTEAU LE PUY
This organic, unfined and unfiltered Vin de France red has a very deep intense purple colour. The nose is very complex and somewhat herbal with intense, rather earthy, ripe-plummy-cedary nose. On the palate, it is extremely dry, full bodied, dense, intense and somewhat bitter with some herbal, slightly dusty, complex, grippy, baked, plum-apple flavours with a lingering, high acid, mineral-driven, earthy, savoury finish. This 2018 edition is an extremely flavourful old vine blend of 85% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc, 6% Cabernet Sauvignon, 1% Malbec and 1% Carménère that is matured in oak barrels and casks for 24 months and has 14% alcohol and 1.5 g/L residual sugar. From the Bordeaux Saint-Emilion vineyards of Chateau Le Puy. An acquired taste! CSPC 557660
