RISERVA CHIANTI CLASSICO 2016 DOCG
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer CASTELLO DI BOSSI BERARDO
Fairly deep purple red colour. Intense, complex, youthful, sandalwood-driven, dried ripe Damson plum nose with some red licorice notes. Very dry, medium-full bodied, dense, intense, youthful, grippy, solid, ripe, plum flavours with excellent structure and lots of acidity and still firm tannins on the lingering, chestnut driven finish. Personally I would wait four more years to 2026 before tackling this allowing the fruit to evolve, integrate and become more harmonious. A serious Reserva, it has 14.5% alcohol, 4 g/L residual sugar with lot number L39/21 on the back label.

TASTING NOTE: This is a very subtly played Chianti Classico Riserva that opens to reveal brambleberries, dried orange peel, vanilla, tobacco, cedar, spice box and grilled meats. Very structured on the palate with loads of firm tannins, coated with generous fruit and refreshened by cutting acidity. Drink from 2023. Score - 96 (jamessuckling.com, Nov. 7, 2019) Price $ 38.95
