CHARDONNAY 2019 Monterey, Sonoma and Santa Barbara counties
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer MEIOMI
Here is my just updated tasting note based on a fresh bottle from the LCBO. This crowd-pleaser typifies the new direction of California Chardonnay with less emphasis on oak and more on freshness. Bright medium straw colour with a spicy, faintly honeyed, floral, ripe melon-lemon-apple purée nose with some toasty-mineral notes. Dry, medium bodied, harmonious, spicy, ripe melon-apple-lemon flavours with a lingering, gently cedary, somewhat tropical finish. It’s ready-to-drink and will work with poultry. Has 13.9% alcohol and 6 g/L residual sugar with a new lot number 21111 and on the lower part of the glass bottle. Screwcap closure. A REPEAT of the 2019 (**/**+) that was released on December 11, 2021 at $21.95. T CSPC 410712

TASTING NOTE: End-of-season temperatures that were slightly cooler than average combined with warm, sunny afternoons, allowing winemakers the luxury of keeping the Chardonnay on the vine a little longer than normal. This made for fully ripe, complex, aromatically intense fruit. This concentrated, vibrant wine shows peach, apple, pear, tropical mango and guava tones and a gorgeously velvety texture that make it perfect for holiday dinners. Price $ 21.95
