LE MOULIN BRUT BLANQUETTE DE LIMOUX Traditional method, AP, Midi, France
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer J. LAURENS
A REPEAT that was released on May 15, 2021 at $19.95. Here is my updated note from this April 16 release. Bright very pale straw colour with an abundance of fine effervescence. Attractive, slightly spicy, faintly honeyed, ripe, melon-apple-citrus nose with some faint toasty notes. Dry, medium-light bodied, very faintly honeyed, zesty, bright, ripe,melon-apple-lemon flavours with a lingering, crisp, effervescent, clean finish. This blend of 90% Mauzac and 10% Chardonnay has 12% alcohol and 6 g/L residual sugar with a NEW lot number L21344 on the back label. A versatile, genuine, crowd-pleaser that’s ready to enjoy. TASTING NOTE: This area is noted as the first in France to make sparkling wine in volume - long before Champagne - and is vinified using at least 90% of the local Mauzac grape. This sparkling wine dishes up a nose of yeasty notes, citrus and peach before unleashing a profusion of glorious bubbles riding a wave of flavour - succulent white peach, racy lemon yoghurt and zesty pineapple. The crisp, refreshing aftertaste also makes its mark. This pours well as an aperitif or alongside roast fowl or seafood; it has the oomph and charm to handle both. Drink now. Exceptional Value!
