This crowd-pleasing, bargain-priced, méthode champenoise aka Cap Classique has a bright salmon pink colour. Gently spicy, slightly toasty, fairly complex, ripe plum-raspberry fruit on the nose. Dry, medium bodied, well structured, slightly spicy, bright, ripe, plum-cherry-raspberry purée flavours with a lingering, fairly effervescent, mouth filling, harmonious finish. Impressive and ready to drink. Based on the 2019 vintage, it is a NEW blend of 51% Chardonnay, 44% Pinot Noir, 3% Pinot Meunier, 1% Pinot Gris and 1% Chenin Blanc. It has 12.2% alcohol, 6.8 g/L residual sugar and 6 g/L total acidity with lot number 19G21/19/25/1-LJ130H21 on the back label. This code means 19-19th day; G-July; 21-2021 (degorgement on July 19, 2021) then /19-2019 vintage and /25-25 months on lees.Tasted on March 30, 2022 from a bottle purchased at the LCBO. |

TASTING NOTE: A nicely toasty and biscuity, complex sparkling rosé from Cap Classique specialist Pongrácz - I like the full-flavoured palate, the dry styling, the fresh acids and the long finish. Very impressive at the price. Score - 90 (John Szabo, MS, winealign.com, May 22, 2019) |
