Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
SÃO MIGUEL |
Very deep intense purple colour. Attractive, intense, ripe, plum-black-cherry nose with cedary, mocha-chocolate notes. Dry, medium to medium-full bodied, well structured, fairly dense, gently spicy, ripe, somewhat juicy, plum-cherry-cassis flavours with a lingering, cedary, dark chocolate, harmonious finish. This well-made, ready-to-drink, new blend of Touriga Nacional, Alicante Bouschet and Touriga Franca has 14.5% alcohol and 6 g/L residual sugar with lot number L192-239F2 on the lower part of the glass bottle. The grapes were mechanically harvested during the night and fermented temperature controlled stainless steel vats where it went through full malolactic fermentation with French oak staves followed by 9 months in French and American 400 L oak barrels. |

TASTING NOTE: The winemakers (enólogos) at this producer like Alicante Bouschet, which is 50% of this blend. This young wine shows density and rich concentration, with tannins that give power. It needs time to soften, so wait until 2024. Cellar Selection. Score - 93 (Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, Oct. 1, 2021) |
