GAMAY NOIR 2019 VQA Niagara Peninsula
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer TAWSE
A REPEAT of the recommended 2019 (**+) was released on April 3, 2021 at $18.95. Here is my previous note: Here is a tasty, fresh, ripe Gamay Noir at a great price. Bright medium deep red colour with a slightly spicy, bright, fresh, ripe cherry-rose-hip-plum nose with some faintly savoury notes. Dry, medium-light bodied, spicy, tangy, fresh, crancherry-plum-raspberry flavours with a crisp finish. This 100% Gamay was aged for six months in French oak and is ready-to-drink with 13% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar. Screwcap closure. CSPC 322545

TASTING NOTE: A notably representative gamay with plenty of pep and charm. Peppery notes with raspberry and plum are complementary on the light bodied frame. Tannins are silky, ethereal threads while the acidity is zesty but not obtrusive. Well-balanced and a great drink right now. Chill slightly on warmer days or to highlight the fruit.
