PAZO DAS BRUXAS ALBARIÑO 2019 DO Rías Baixas |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
TORRES |
This aromatic 100% Albariño from Spain’s Rias Baixas is adjacent to the Atlantic bordering on northern Portugal. It has a very bright pale straw colour and a fresh, grippy, spicy, mineral-driven, ripe yellow-grapefruit-apple-lemon nose. Dry, medium to medium-light bodied, gently spicy, tangy, fresh, ripe lemon-apple-yellow-grapefruit flavours with a crisp, unoaked, mineral-tinged finish. Ready-to-drink and best with seafood, especially oysters. I had it with paella and it was a winner. Has 12.5% alcohol, under 1 g/L residual sugar and a hefty 7.6 g/L total acidity with lot number L20209 on the back label. Screwcap closure. |

TASTING NOTE: 100% Albariño. This is intense with exceptionally concentrated fruit, mouthwatering acidity and a fine texture to the palate. Then there is the mineral finish that goes on and on. Could not be more different from the everyday Albarinos. [Drink through 2024.] Score - 95 (Decanter World Wine Awards, 2020) |
