TÉLÉGRAMME CHÂTEAUNEUF-DU-PAPE 2019 AC |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |

DOMAINE DU VIEUX TÉLÉGRAPHE |
This highly sought-after blend of 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 6% Mourvèdre and 4% Cinsault seems remarkably ripe, supple and accessible today. This is the magic appeal of Télégramme being the second wine of Vieux Télégraphe. It has a deep intense purple colour and an elegant, gently spicy, expansive, ripe plum-cherry puree nose with some sandalwood-cedar notes. Dry, medium-full bodied, fairly extracty, harmonious, faintly spicy, intense, bright, harmonious, rounded, ripe plum-cherry-cranberry-casss flavours with a lingering, gently cedary, sandalwood-tinged, vibrant, smoke-tinged finish. Delicious now - wonderfully textured and quite ready-to-drink. Aged 15-16 months in French oak foudres (30-60 hl) and bottled without filtration or fining, this blend has 15.5% alcohol and 1.8 g/L residual sugar with lot number L21132 on the back label. Even better than the recommended 2018 (***) with 93-points was released on March 20, 2021 at $63.95. |

TASTING NOTE: Deep violet. Ripe, spice-accented dark berry and cherry preserve scents show strong garrigue and floral accents. Pliant in texture and broad in the mouth, offering sappy boysenberry, bitter cherry and floral pastille flavors and a peppery topnote. Finishes long and gently chewy, with the floral and spice notes repeating. Drinking window: 2023-2032. Score - 93 (Josh Raynolds, vinous.com, Oct. 2021) |
