CÔTE DE BROUILLY 2019 AP |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
TERRE DES LYS |
From the smallest of 10 Beaujolais Cru, this classy. nicely priced, Côte de Brouilly shows how appealing and food-friendly Gamay can be. It has a fairly deep intense purple colour and a slightly shy, ripe plum nose with hints of boysenberry and sandalwood. It’s a winner on the palate - dry but not austere with medium bodied, fresh, ripe, rounded, bright, Damson plum and harmonious crancherry fruit flavours. Add just the right touch of acidity with the ripe tannins and you have an elegant, exceedingly drinkable winner. |

TASTING NOTE: Situated on the slopes of Mount Brouilly, the Côte de Brouilly is unique among Beaujolais crus in that it has vineyards that face each point of the compass. Wines from here have vibrant acidity, silky tannins and cranberry tones atop a distinct mineral note and can benefit from time in bottle. Drink now to 2026+. [The Concours des Grands Vins du Beaujolais did not include a tasting note.] Score - Gold (Concours des Grands Vins du Beaujolais, 2020) |
