SAUVIGNON BLANC 2021 Awatere Valley, Marlborough, South Island
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer ERADUS
Assessed from a bottle purchased at the LCBO. Eleven of the last 17 releases have been recommended most of them being Best Buys. This new bright 2021 Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is a perfect Spring sipper. Extremely pale straw colour, the nose has lots of grassy, gooseberry notes with yellow grapefruit and peppery mineral notes. Dry, medium to medium-light bodied, tangy, spicy, harmonious, very grassy, youthful, fresh, lime-tinged, grapefruit flavours with a lingering, somewhat tart, unoaked finish. This 100% Sauvignon Blanc has 13.5% alcohol and under 1 g/L residual sugar with lot number 1280 on the lower part of the glass bottle. Screwcap closure. In another year or some, the The current should rise to 90-points as it starts to flesh out. The recommended 2020 with 89.5-points was released on June 12, 2021 at $19.95. CSPC 225557

TASTING NOTE: Fabulously aromatic and dazzling, the wine shows passionfruit, Granny Smith apple, white floral and kaffir lime notes on the nose, followed by a powerfully expressed palate delivering terrific fruit purity and intensity. Wonderfully flavoursome with zesty acidity, finishing long and super tasty. At its best: now to 2024. Score - 94 (Sam Kim, wineorbit.co.nz, June 2021) Price $ 19.95
