HERITAGE COLLECTION CHARMED SPARKLING 2020 Charmat method, VQA Ontario |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
MARYNISSEN |
This tasting note is based on a bottle provided by the winery. Made in the Charmat stainless-steel-tank-fermented method with 6-months aging, it has a pricey traditional cork-capsule closure. Very pale straw colour. The pleasant nose is somewhat sweetish, spicy, honeyed and gently tropical with pineapple-tinged notes. Fairly dry, medium-light bodied, very spicy, fizzy, ripe, Muscaty, apple-melon-lemon flavours with a crisp clean finish. This ready-to-drink, crowd-pleasing blend of 72% Riesling, 20% Gewurztraminer, 8% Muscat has 11.5% alcohol, 15 g/L residual sugar and 7.3 g/L total acidity with only 4 bar pressure (58 psi) - fermented in the bottle Champagne by contrast usually has 6 to 7 bar (87 to 101.5 psi). This batch has lot number 2021 02 29 g on the middle part of the glass bottle. |

TASTING NOTE: The Heritage Collection was established to pay homage to Marynissen founder John Marynissen. This appealing, quite enchanting blend of Riesling, Gewürztraminer and Muscat offers bright citrus tones with apple, peach, nectarine and touch of herbs. A refreshing, deliciously satisfying sipper that will pair well with salty appetizers or charcuterie plates. |
