This 100% Carignan is a very popular crowd-pleaser and comes with a fairly deep purple-red colour. It’s fragrant, spicy, bright, ripe cherry-plum-raspberry purée fruit nose has some slight mineral notes. Dry, medium bodied, slightly spicy, very bright, intense, ripe, plum-cherry-raspberry flavours with a lingering, rather crisp, sandalwood-tinged finish. Tasty and versatile, it has 14.5% alcohol and 5 g/L residual sugar with lot number L2273A on the lower part of the glass bottle. This 2019 is fermented in stainless steel and aged (80%) in concrete tanks and 20% in neutral French oak demi-muids. CSPC 343509

TASTING NOTE: All old vine Carignan, the 2019 Côtes Catalanes Tessellae from Jean-Marc Lafage offers a beautifully pure nose of red and blue fruits, brambly herbs, violets, and leather. This carries to a medium to full-bodied red with silky tannins, no hard edges, and a great finish. It has impressive purity as well as elegance and is going to keep for 2-4 years.
