This Wine of the Month has a fairly deep purple colour and a fairly complex, cedar-tinged, minerally, ripe, plum-driven nose with some red licorice and sandalwood notes. Dry, medium bodied, harmonious, slightly spicy, tangy, fairly intense, very slightly tart, raspberry-plum-red-cherry flavours with a lingering, cedar-tinged, mineral-tinged, slightly grippy finish. Perfect with tomato-based sauces. This 100% Sangiovese has 14% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number L.41/21 on the back label. The 2016 (**+) was released on August 22, 2020 at $22.95. |

TASTING NOTE: A lively Chianti Classico with aromas and flavors of black cherries, as well as some sour-cherry and burnt-lemon notes. It's medium-bodied with fine tannins and a fresh, vivid finish. Just the right amount of bitterness at the end. Drink or hold [through 2023+]. Score - 92 (jamessuckling.com, Oct. 27, 2020) |
