MAYFLOWER 2016 Vinho Regional Alentejano |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |

FLOR DE MAIO |
A REPEAT of the 2016 (**) was released on February 20, 2021 at $13.95. Here is my previous note: This juicy, somewhat rustic blend of Trincadeira, Aragonez and Syrah has a deep intense purple colour. The nose is slightly spicy with bright, ripe plum-raspberry fruit. It’s fairly dry, medium bodied and quite well structured with bright, ripe plummy-cherry flavours and a fairly crisp, faintly rustic finish with some earthy-sandalwood notes. A casual, ready-to-drink red, it has 13% alcohol and 8 g/L residual sugar with lot number L26023 on the back label. |

TASTING NOTE: This wine was sourced from clay, granite and limestone soils and fermented in stainless steel. The 2016 is a blend of Trincadeira, Aragonez and Syrah and delivers fresh ripe red fruit, with touches of spice and a juicy, food-friendly acidity. Perfect for burgers, ribs or meaty stews.
