SAUVIGNON BLANC 2019 Sustainable, Hawke's Bay, North Island
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer TRINITY HILL
This recommended 2019 REPEAT last appeared on November 14, 2020 at $19.95. Just reviewed from this new shipment. Medium-light straw colour, the gently spicy, slightly honeyed, faintly grassy, tangy, ripe melon-apple-citrus nose is a pleaser! Dry, medium to medium-light bodied, harmonious and yet fairly well structured, the slightly spicy, fairly intense, ripe melon-lemon-apple flavours have some gently grassy notes followed up by a lingering, rather tangy, gently complex finish. While 85% was fermented in stainless steel with 8 months lees contact, 15% was fermented and aged in small 228 litre barriques to add complexity. It has a modest 11.5% alcohol, only 2.5 g/L residual sugar and 6.7 g/L total acidity with lot number 19157 on the lower part of the glass bottle with a screwcap closure. CSPC 247221

TASTING NOTE: Bright, lively and fragrant, the wine shows green rockmelon, Gala apple, lemon peel and jalapeno characters on the nose, leading to a flavoursome palate that's filled with youthful fruit flavours. It's crisp, mouthwatering and delightfully drinkable. At its best: now to 2021. [This wine has demonstrated a quality that will see it continue to impress through at least 2023.] Score - 90 (Sam Kim, wineorbit.co.nz, March 2020) Price $ 19.95
