RESERVA GARNACHA/TEMPRANILLO/CARIÑENA 2017 DOP Cariñena
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer MONASTERIO DE LAS VIÑAS
A REPEAT of the recommended best buy 2017 (**+) that was last released on November 27, 2021 at $15.95. Here is my just updated note from the new shipment. Very deep purple-ruby colour. Attractive, gently cedary, slightly spicy, intense, ripe plum purée nose with some cassis-tinged, sandalwood notes. Dry, medium bodied, quite well structured, slightly spicy, bright, ripe, plum-cherry-cassis flavours with a lingering, tangy, cedary, tangy finish. This 12 Months Barrel blend of 40% Garnacha, 40% Tempranillo, 10% Cariñena and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon (which appears on the label) was aged for 12 months in 70% American and 30% French oak and has 13.5% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with a new lot number L210246 (previously 201399) on the back label. Terrific value - needs a big glass. CSPC 166579
