Bright fairly deep purple colour. Very spicy, ripe, juicy, plum-cherry purée nose. Dry, medium bodied, spicy, bright, gently juicy, ripe, plum-cherry raspberry purée flavours with a lingering, attractive, refreshing, gently tangy, lifted, well balanced, fresh finish. Ready-to-drink and great with roast chicken and perhaps salmon. This delicious, not-to-be-missed,ready-to-drink. 100% Gamay from the Cru Brouilly region has 13.5% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number L1903 on the upper part of the glass bottle. Too bad we had to wait three years to get it back into Vintages. The recommended best buy 2016 (***) was released on March 2, 2019 at $21.95. Brouilly is the largest of the Beaujolais Cru’s and often one of the more powerful. This chateau with its 14th century tower is surrounded by 173 acres of high lying vineyards (330+ metres) averaging 40 years of age. The grapes are partly destemmed before fermentation and macerated on the skins for two weeks with regular punching down for colour and flavour extraction. Ready-to-drink. CSPC 637835

TASTING NOTE: This juicy wine is sourced from vines averaging 45 years old planted in poor, shallow, sandy soils that forced the vines to work hard to find sustenance. The wines of Brouilly are quite robust in a Beaujolais context and are notably fruit-forward expressions. Pair with grilled sausages. Price $ 18.95
