GIGONDAS 2018 AC |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |

LAVAU |
Another great Gigigondas, this time from 2018. Very deep intense purple colour. Complex, somewhat earthy, intense, spicy, slightly baked, ripe plum-cherry-cassis nose with some hints of red licorice, sandalwood and smoky toast. Dry, medium-full bodied, harmonious, intense, ripe, plum-black-cherry-cassis flavours with a crisp, licorice-tinged, complex, cedary, somewhat gamey, slightly smoky, high acid finish. This classic blend of 50% Grenache, 40% Syrah and 10% Mourvèdre has 14.5% alcohol and 4 g/L residual sugar with lot number L210805G on the lower part of the glass bottle and back label. The recommended 2016 (***) was released on August 8, 2020 at $36.95. |

TASTING NOTE: Yum. Lovely ripe strawberries, earth, stone and hints of nuts and mushrooms. It's full-bodied, yet balanced and extremely drinkable. Drink now. Score - 93 (jamessuckling.com, June 2, 2020) |
