VENTOSO SANGIOVESE 2019 IGT Toscana |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
PIAZZANO |
This flavourful, ready-to-drink Tuscan blend of Sangiovese with some Canaiolo, Malvasia Nera and Trebbiano comes across as refreshing, bright, gently complex and somewhat tannic with ripe plum-focused fruit along with crancherries and a touch of cassis. Medium bodied and quite tasty with some savoury notes, I struggled with the now 17-month-old 92-point JS review quoted in the Vintages Catalogue. It’s a really more of a tasty quaffer than a destination red and may well have been showing better in 2020. And yet for only $17, it hits the mark with tomato-based Italian dishes from pasta to pizza. It’s unoaked and has 13% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number L215/27-5G on the back label. Ready-to-drink and tasted twice from separately purchased bottles. NEW in Vintages. |
