Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer LA MOTTE
Youthful deep intense purple-red colour. A rich, ripe, intense, complex, Damson plum nose with lots of dark-cherry-cassis notes and a touch of mocha-chocolate, cedar and sandalwood. Very dry, medium to medium-full bodied, intense, youthful, firm, plummy-crancherry fruit with some herbal, still gently tannic notes on the lingering, high acid finish. Very good qualitatively but needs time to integrated and soften - best with a bbq rib steak. Made from grapes harvested in Stellenbosch and Franschhoek regions fermented and matured separately. Fermentation was in stainless steel tanks with a portion matured in 300-litre French oak barrels – 33% new, 33% second-fill and 34% older barrels for 16 months. Has 13.25% alcohol, 3.2 g/L residual sugar and 6 g/L total acidity with lot number L19/329 on the back label. Bottled in November 2019 there were 14 000 cases (6 x 750 ml). Not “NEW in Vintages” .
