BOURGOGNE PINOT NOIR 2017 AC Bourgogne |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
MAISON VALDESDAY |
Fairly deep red colour. Slightly spicy, gently fragrant, still fresh, plum-raspberry nose with some mineral-sandalwood notes. Dry, medium bodied, harmonious, slightly spicy, fresh, ripe, plummy-cherry-raspberry flavours with a crisp, mineral-tinged, well balanced, ready-to-drink finish. It has 13% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number L0022 on the lower part of the glass bottle suggesting that it may have been bottled on January 2, 2020. Very well priced, it seems better than the recommended 2018 (**/**+) with only 12.5% alcohol that was released on March 7, 2020 at $20.95! |

TASTING NOTE: Valdesay takes its name from Old French meaning \"Valley of Hope.\" This wine comes from the very good 2017 vintage and will deliver an elegant glassful of earthy berry fruit that'll pair nicely with beef bourguignon or coq au vin. You could hardly hope for a better red Burgundy at such an approachable price. [Gilbert & Gaillard did not include a tasting note.] Score - Gold (Gilbert & Gaillard International Challenge, 2018) |
