Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer RIZZI
If you enjoyed the very attractive, elegant 2017 Barbaresco last August, you will not be disappointed by this even riper 2018. Medium deep red in colour with a hint of amber on the edge. The nose is gently floral with dried roses and violet notes along with Indian spices, hints of leather, ripe plums and sandalwood-cassis notes. Dry, medium to medium-full bodied, nicely structured, bright, attractive, ripe, harmonious, plum-black-cherry-cassis flavours with a lingering, mineral-tinged, gentle sandalwood, harmonious finish with excellent acidity. Showing nicely, it has 15% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number L20BB18R on the back label. CSPC 478958

TASTING NOTE: Bright red colour of good depth. On the nose there are fragrant and lively wild berry aromas, purple flowers (maybe petunia), warm, chalky earth and a faint dusting of oak spice. The palate is more reticent, the core of fresh fruit coiled tightly in a coating of ripe tannin, dried herb and brown spice also evident, long carry on the finish. Possesses both gravitas and poise, just needs a few years to open out. Drink date: 2025-2041. Ranked #12 of 48 of The Real Review's 2018 Nebbiolo from Barbaresco.
