PLAN DE DIEU CÔTES DU RHÔNE-VILLAGES 2018 AC
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer CHÂTEAU LE GRAND RETOUR
Assessed from a bottle purchased at the LCBO. A REPEAT of the recommended best buy 2018 (**+) that was last released on June 12, 2021 at $15.95. Here is my updated tasting note. Extremely deep intense purple colour. Gently spicy, intense, attractive, juicy, ripe, plum-black-cherry-cassis purée nose. Dry, medium-full bodied, harmonious, spicy, intense, well structured, ripe, plummy-cherry-cassis flavours with a lingering, mocha-chocolate-tinged, complex, rounded finish. This blend of 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 10% Mourvedre has 15% alcohol and 4 g/L residual sugar. with lot number L21202C on the upper part of the glass bottle. It is is showing more ripe fruit today than before. A versatile, delicious, ready-to-drink, crowd-pleaser that is moving up to 90-points as it sits in the glass. CSPC 224592

TASTING NOTE: The 2018 Côtes Du Rhône Villages Plan De Dieu is still in tank yet sports a saturated purple color as well as notes of blackberries, ground pepper, violets, and earth. It's pure, plush, and medium to full-bodied, with a rounded, seamless texture and tons of character. It's [a] rocking little fruit bomb to drink on release and over the following 2-4 years. Maturity: 2019-2023. Score - 89-91 (Jeb Dunnuck, jebdunnuck.com, Aug. 16, 2019) Price $ 15.95
