PREMIER CUVÉE SPARKLING 2015 Traditional method, VQA Niagara Peninsula, Ontario
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer 13TH STREET
Bright medium-light straw colour with streams of extremely tiny bubbles. Toasty, complex, intense, slightly spicy, ripe lemon-apple meringue nose with some very faintly leesy, warm brioch-shortbread notes. Dry, medium bodied, well structured, high acid, ripe, lemon-apple meringue flavours with a lingering, very crisp, effervescent, complex, gently toasty, mineral-tinged finish. This batch of very tasty blend of 60% Chardonnay and 40% Pinot Noir actually spent 60 months (not 48) on the lees and has 12.5% alcohol and zero dosage leaving 3 g/L residual sugar. The bottling date only appears on the shipping case - it is June 15, 2021. Only 560 cases of 6 produced. This 2015 is one of the best I have tasted from 13th Street and outperforms some some of the pricier Champagnes at the LCBO. CSPC 142679

TASTING NOTE: Tasting this wine in July 2021, David Lawrason of winealign.com awarded it 92 points and said the following: \"The top sparkler from 13th Street is a chardonnay-pinot noir blend aged 48 months on its lees. It has a complex and generous, mature nose of sourdough/shortbread, hazelnut, dried apple and a note like yellow wax beans. It is light to medium bodied, fairly intense, generous yet delicate with fine acidity, some frothy effervescence, some minerality and excellent length.\" [The National Wine Awards of Canada did not include a tasting note.] Score - 94 (National Wine Awards of Canada, Oct. 21, 2021) Price $ 39.95
