Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer Eisele Vineyard
Assessed from a bottle I purchased at the LCBO. Wow, itís exciting to taste side-by-side two 2017 Napa Cabs both costing $99.95 against one another. Unfortunately, it was a bit of a no contest. Extremely deep intense purple colour, the intense nose shows an abundance of rich ripe fruit - mostly black cherry and cassis - with lots of mineral-tinged, cedar-sandalwood notes. Itís dry, full bodied and very well structured with lots of very ripe, Damson plum, black cherry and cassis fruit along with a lingering, gently spicy, complex, high acid, cedary, extracty finish. Ironically, I actually preferred the less explosive finesse of the Atlas Peak ANTICA MOUNTAIN SELECT CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2018 tasted on October 16 at only $79.95. CSPC 548297

TASTING NOTE: Eisele Vineyard, formerly known as Araujo, has yielded some of California's most revered \"cult\" wines since its founding in 1990. Expect a ripe, rich wine, with plenty of juicy dark cherry, cassis, toast and chocolate tones and effortless poise. There's significant cellar potential, so enjoy this tonight with beef tenderloin or follow its evolution into the early 2030s. Price $ 99.95
