ETNA ROSSO 2013 DOP
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer PATRIA
NEW in Vintages. This entry-level, maturing, 2013 blend of 85% Nerello Mascales and 15% Nerello Cappuccio is still hanging in there. The undated 91-point review quoted in the Vintages Catalogue is meaningless at best, misleading at worst. Medium red colour with a hint of amber on the edge. Leafy, warm, ripe plum nose with a hint of sandalwood. Dry, medium-light bodied, tangy, spicy, plummy, cherry tomato flavours with a crisp, slightly tannic finish. Ready-to-drink. Aged one year in Slavonian oak, it has 14% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with LETR8037 on the back label. Wait for the far superior edition from Francesco Tornatore to show up. CSPC 19634

The strawberry fruit is there too underneath vanilla, violets and aniseed giving great complexity on top of very fine tannins. Drinking window 2017-2022.
