Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer BELLA UNION
A REPEAT of the untasted 2017 that was last released on April 4, 2020 at $99.95. I just purchased a bottle at the LCBO and this is the first time I have had the opportunity to taste it. It has fairly deep intense purple colour. The nose shows lots of intense, rather spicy, ripe, black cherry fruit along with lots of oaky notes. Itís dry, full bodied dense, rich and intense with extremely ripe, cedary-driven, black-cherry-cassis fruit flavours with a lingering, faintly peppery, complex, high acid, cedary, fairly bitter, dark chocolate finish. Wow - the first question is what would I eat with this intense block buster? A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Cabernet Franc and Petite Verdot (unknown %) with 14.5% alcohol and 4 g/L residual sugar. CSPC 14074

TASTING NOTE: Sinewy, earthy and full of spice, this well-made wine is lush and sumptuous, with firm, focused tannins and integrated oak. Black cherry, cinnamon and nutmeg meld on the structured, full-bodied palate, with a graceful hint of dark chocolate on the finish. This will do well in the cellar; enjoy 2025-2030. Ranked #74 in Wine Enthusiast's Cellar Selections of 2020. Score - 95 (Virginie Boone, Wine Enthusiast, March 1, 2020) Price $ 99.95
