Sette Ponti ORENO 2018 IGT Toscana
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer Sette Ponti
Assessed from a new bottle purchased at the LCBO. There have been 16 previous releases of Oreno dating back to December 2010 - the best so far was the 2017. And yet what an amazing uptick from the excellent 2017 into the magnificent 2018. Itís all about elegance, balance, ripeness and harmony. And best of all is its accessibility and drinkability. This 2018 is a new blend of 45% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Petit Verdot. Very deep intense ruby-violet colour. The nose has some slightly warm earthy, faintly cedary notes built around mineral-tinged, plum-cherry-cassis fruit. Very dry, medium-full bodied, dense, well structured, faintly spicy, intense, bright, ripe, plum-cherry-cassis fruit flavours with a lingering, surprisingly harmonious, fairly high acid finish. Elegant with refined ripe tannins. It has 15% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with a new lot number L191219 on the back label. CSPC 735597
