Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer LIBRANDI
The last time I tasted this, it was the 2009 for the March 30, 2013 release at $15.95. And while the price has inched up, the quality has soared! Made from the indigenous Gaglioppo grape, this has a fairly deep ruby red colour. The nose very attractive, and shows good intensity - gently spicy with lots of ripe, plummy, black cherry fruit along with minerally-sandalwood notes. Dry, medium bodied, harmonious, ripe, attractive, bright, plummy-strawberry-cassis flavours with a crisp, lingering finish. Absolutely ready-to-drink, it has 14% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number LD34920 on the back label. Of the 12 Ciro releases in Vintages over the past 20 years, this is the best yet!
