CEPPARELLO 2017 IGT Toscana
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer ISOLE E OLENA
Not new in Vintages. The recommended 2016 (***/***+) was last released on December 7, 2019 at $113.95 (#25601). Very deep intense purple colour. The nose is very complex and slightly spicy with ripe, plum-cherry-casss fruit with some slightly cedary, red licorice notes. Dry, medium-full bodied, well structured, harmonious, slightly spicy, dense, intense, ripe, plum-cherry-red-and-black-currrant fruit flavours with a lingering, fairly high acid, complex, grippy, sandalwood-tinged finish. Still very youthful, this 100% Sangiovese has 15% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number L.17.19 on the back label. CSPC 12818

TASTING NOTE: The 2017 Cepparello is another in a series of stunningly beautiful Cepparellos from Paolo de Marchi. Bright and beautifully focused in the glass, with tremendous depth, the 2017 is positively stellar from the very first taste. Succulent dark cherry, plum, licorice, spice, menthol and coffee all open up with a bit of air. Here, too, Paolo De Marchi has done a tremendous job in preserving freshness in the wine. Readers who can muster the patience will be rewarded with a spectacular wine. Drinking window: 2025-2042. Score - 97 (Antonio Galloni, vinous.com, Sept. 2020) Price $ 128.95
