Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer MONTE ZOVO
Very deep intense purple colour. Complex, gently cedary, slightly spicy, intense, attractive, ripe Damson plum plus red and black cherry fruit with some slightly earthy, cedary notes. Dry, medium-full bodied, harmonious, quite complex, gently spicy, expansive, ripe plum-cherry flavours with a lingering, gently cedary, smooth, sandalwood-black-licorice finish. This blend of 45% Corvinone, 45% Corvina and 10%Rondinella has 16% alcohol and 10 g/L residual sugar with lot number L07521 on the back label and on the lower part of the glass bottle. A harmonious, well structured, crowd-pleaser, it is showing surprisingly nicely now and should last for years to come. CSPC 447888

TASTING NOTE: The 2015 Amarone della Valpolicella is dark and brooding, slowly opening with a display of violettinged blackberry, plum, stone dust, dark chocolate and sage. It's velvety and luxuriously textural, with depths of ripe red and blue fruits giving way to licorice, sweet herbal tones and a hint of rich black coffee. There's something of a sticky sweetness through the finale, only partially offset by notes of tart cherry and hints of spiced citrus. I would advise decanting or leaving it open in bottle for an hour or more for optimal enjoyment, but be aware that it is a large-scale expression of Amarone. Drinking window: 2021-2028.
