Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer QUADRUS
This well-made gently hefty 2015 has a deep intense purple colour and an intense, rather complex, opulent, plummy-dark-cherry-cassis nose with some sandalwood-cedar notes. Dry, medium-full bodied and well structured with ripe, intense, Damson plum, black cherry and cassis flavours with some in faint hints of garrigue along with fairly robust sandalwood-cedar notes on the lingering finish. Quite extracty with fine mouthfeel - especially for a mere $22.95. This blend of 55% Touriga Nacional, 30% Tinta Roriz and 15% Sousao has 14% alcohol and 4 g/L residual sugar. The ever-popular 2014 made three appearances in Vintages, the most recent on October 31, 2020 at $22.95. CSPC 440305

TASTING NOTE: This Douro blend of Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz (a.k.a. Tempranillo) and Sousão has a Canadian connection: Quadrus was founded in 2005 by Aris Kaplanis and Toronto restaurateurs Tony and Mario Amaro. Dark fruit, pepper spice, good tension and a food-friendly vibrancy make this wine a winner with barbecued country-style ribs. Price $ 22.95
