Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer VILMART ET CIE
A REPEAT that last appeared in Vintages (**+) on December 7, 2019 at $69.95. Here is my previous note: Bright light straw colour. Spicy, baked apple-lemon nose with some slightly peppery notes. Dry, medium bodied, very spicy, faintly honeyed, peppery, dried, lemon-apple flavours with a lingering, high acid, somewhat terse, faintly dusty, effervescent finish. Not so “Grande” after all. Has 12.5% alcohol and 10 g/L residual sugar. CSPC 12619

TASTING NOTE: [Though not the same bottling as reviewed by Alison Napjus, this will reflect similar qualities and traits consistent with the house style.] A vivid Champagne, offering richness married to restraint, creating a pleasing tension that frames flavors of ripe nectarine and slivered almond, accented by an aromatic skein of lime blossom, ground anise, ginger and saffron. Finely detailed in texture, with a lingering finish. Disgorged February 2019. Drink now through 2025. Score - 93 (Alison Napjus, winespectator.com, Nov. 30, 2020) Price $ 72.95
