NOBLES RIVES CROZES-HERMITAGE 2018 Sustainable, AC
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer CAVE DE TAIN HÉRITIERS GAMBERT
The year 2018 seems to have produced amazing Rhone reds and this remarkable, complex, mouthfiling, smoky, ripe black-cherry-cassis purée driven 100% Syrah is a must buy! Extremely deep intense purple colour, the enormous nose shows an abundance of spicy, ripe plum and black cherry fruit with some complex, slightly smoky, red licorice and sandalwood notes. Dry, medium-full bodied, very well structured, tangy, rather spicy, intense, smoky, ripe plum-cherry-cassis flavours with a lingering, gently cedary, high acid, harmonious finish. This classic, extremely well priced, northern Rhone Syrah from the small Crozes-Hermitage appellation has 14% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number L20081 20/05 on the lower part of the glass bottle. A Best Buy
TASTING NOTE: Primary dark berry and floral scents show very good clarity and take on hints of cracked pepper and licorice with air. Velvety and seamless on the palate, offering juicy black raspberry, cherry and floral pastille flavors and an energizing, spicy jolt of cracked pepper. A bitter chocolate note comes up on the clinging finish, which is framed by fine-grained, well-knit tannins. Score - 91-92 (Josh Raynolds, vinous.com, May 2020) Price $ 25.95
