Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer LAVAU
This very respectable Rasteau is a 50-50 blend of Grenache and Syrah. It ss showing very well - certainly much better/riper than the previous 2015. It has a very deep intense purple colour and an attractive, gently spicy, warm, ripe, intense, plummy-cherry-cassis nose with some bright, cedar-licorice notes. Dry, medium to medium-full bodied, and quite well structured, it’s tangy, ripe, plum-cherry-cassis flavours with a lingering, gently cedary, fairly high acid, garrigue-tinged, faintly smoky finish. This blend of 50% Grenache and 50% Syrah has 14,5% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number L191204G on the back label. CSPC 394650

TASTING NOTE: Earthen notes of crushed stone and dried porcini lend complexity to ripe, luscious blackberry and cassis flavors. A blend of equal parts Grenache and Syrah, it's plump and intensely fruity but balanced by fresh acidity and a pleasantly bitter rim of minerality on the finish. Best now-2027.
