Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer POMMERY
NEW in Vintages, this tasty blend of 40% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay and 30% Pinot Meunier is almost a Brut. Bright pale straw colour, it has a fresh ripe lemon-apple meringue nose with a touch of toast. Dry, medium bodied, attractive, bright, ripe, lemon-apple flavours with a lingering, gently toasty, crisp finish. It’s incredibly convenient - I would love to drink a bottle daily with breakfast. It has 15+ months lees aging in 750 ml bottles, before being seamlessly transferred into these splendid Pommery miniatures with lot number L23111023 on the back label. Pommery has perfected these 200 ml Champagne bottles which are filled with “the real thing.” CSPC 18132

TASTING NOTE: In an attempt to lighten the image of Champagne, Pommery has gone for a light style of wine and an equally light name, which harks back to the 1930s description of Champagne. Luckily, it is not all marketing, and the wine is good, with some bottle age, along with a poise and charm, which certainly works. Score - 89 (Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, Dec. 1, 2005) Price $ 17.95
