Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer THALIA
This previously Vintages-only reasonably-priced red from Crete offers tasty summer sipping. Assessed from a new bottle just purchased at the LCBO. Bright fairly deep ruby colour. Clean, fresh, bright, ripe, plum-cherry nose with some slightly spicy hints of strawberry. Dry, medium-light bodied, bright, fresh, ripe, red and black cherry flavours with a crisp, refreshing, unoaked finish. Quite attractive, versatile and ready-to-drink, this easy-drinking 50% blend of the indigenous Kotsifali grape and 50% Syrah has 12.5% alcohol and 4 g/L residual sugar with lot number L120129 on the back label. The Greek island of Crete, where this winery is located, traces back to a 4000-year old history of winemaking. This red blend is made with syrah and kotsifali, a grape variety indigenous to the island. The result is a medium-bodied wine with notes of red berries, ripe cherries and earthy spice.
