Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer J. L. CHAVE SÉLECTION
Assessed from a bottle purchased at the LCBO. Mon Coeur is a blend of four terroirs located in the Chateauneuf-du-Pape region and is a 50-50 blend of old vine (20-60 years) Syrah and Grenache. This hefty, very well structured, Rhone offers great value at only $23.95. Extremely deep purple colour with a fairly intense, complex, somewhat earthy, baked plum nose. Dry, medium-full bodied, solid, harmonious, slightly spicy, warm, ripe, complex, rich, plum flavours with a lingering, gently cedary, sandalwood-tinged, fairly high acid, leathery finish. TASTING NOTE: Deep ruby-red. Smoke-accented cherry, dark berries and licorice on the perfumed nose, which takes on succulent floral and herb nuances with air. Smooth, concentrated and gently sweet, offering mineral- and spice-accented black raspberry, cherry and violet pastille flavors and a spicy jolt of cracked pepper. Finishes supple, sweet and quite long, with harmonious tannins and lingering florality. Drinking window: 2021-2027. Score - 91 (Josh Raynolds, vinous.com, April 2020) Price $ 23.95
