Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer ROBERTO VOERZIO
Assessed from a bottle purchased at the LCBO. Roberto Voerzio's wines have a distinctive edge and flavour profile that make them quite unique and identifiable. Bright medium-deep red colour with a faintly amber edge. Intense, quite refined, faintly dusty, faded violet-rose nose with some bricky, dried ripe plum, sandalwood-tinged notes. Very dry, medium to medium-full bodied, well structured, fairly dense, intense, very youthful, chestnut-tinged, plum-crancherry flavours with a lingering, definite high acid, still grippy, cedar-sandalwood finish. This 100% Nebbiolo has 14% alcohol and 1.4 g/L residual sugar with lot number L14-20 on the back label. Needs time. A buy for fans, a try for others. CSPC 914598

TASTING NOTE: Roberto Voerzio's wines, especially the Barolos, have developed a cult following over the years. They embrace the modernist fruit-driven style yet have the longevity to cellar for decades. This 100% Nebbiolo was fermented in stainless steel and tempered 12 months in oak before bottling. Expect it to impress through 2045 and beyond. Price $ 51.95
