Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer Ego Bodegas
A REPEAT of the recommended 2017 (**/**+) was released on March 7, 2020 at $16.95. A tasty, ready-to-drink, slightly upscale blend from Jumilla’s Ego Bodegas. Very deep intense purple colour. Fairly intense, slightly spicy, bright, ripe, crancherry nose with some faintly cedary, mineral notes. Dry, medium bodied, fairly juicy, slightly spicy, very bright, plum-crancherry flavours with a lingering, fairly high acid, slightly cedary finish. Has 14.5% alcohol and 5 g/L residual sugar with no lot number L-C210478B on the back label (the previous batch of 2017 was L-C19303) . There are no % details on the Mourvèdre, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah blend but it did spend 12 months in new French and American oak before going back into stainless steel. CSPC 13621

TASTING NOTE: This red is sleek and solid, in the modern style. Bright cherry, berry and currant flavors mingle with licorice, black tea and mineral notes, giving way to a floral and minerally finish. The firm tannins are well-integrated and juicy acidity keeps this lively. Mourvèdre, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. Drink now through 2029.
