VIGNON VENTOUX 2017 AP
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer XAVIER
Assessed from a fresh bottle purchased at the LCBO. A much improved REPEAT of the 2017 (*+/**) that was released on July 20, 2019 at $16.95. Here is my new tasting note. Deep purple red colour. Attractive, slightly spicy, mineral-tinged, gently juicy, ripe plum-cherry purée nose. Dry, medium bodied, spicy, ripe, attractive, plum-cherry-cassis flavours with a crisp, unoaked finish. Quite ready-to-drink. This refreshed, recently updated blend of 50% Syrah, 30% Grenache and 20% Mourvèdre has 14.5% alcohol and 5 g/L residual sugar with lot number LS2012337/1 on the lower part of the glass bottle. A Best Buy
TASTING NOTE: Coming from a handful of sites in the Ventoux (mostly higher elevation, cooler vineyards), the 2017 Ventoux offers notes of ripe red fruits, garrigue, white pepper, and cedar. Elegant and medium-bodied, it has fine tannins, beautiful purity, and a pure, layered style. Maturity: 2019-2026. Score - 90 (Jeb Dunnuck, jebdunnuck.com, Aug. 16, 2019) Price $ 17.95
