Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer CHÂTEAU CAMPLONG
Unable to get a bottle for assessment from the agent. A REPEAT of the 2018 (**/**+) was released on January 25, 2020 at $13.95. Here is my previous note: Extremely deep intense purple colour. Intense, complex, ripe, plummy nose with some cedary, herb-tinged, baked cherry notes. Dry, medium to medium-full bodied, fairly dense, intense, slightly spicy, gently complex, plummy-cherry flavours with a lingering, violet-tinged, fairly high acid finish. This tasty blend of 36% Syrah, 33% Grenache, 26% Carignan and 5% Mourvedre has 14.5% alcohol and 5 g/L residual sugar with lot number L19261 on the lower part of the glass bottle. I was initially tempted to give this 89-90 points, but when I returned to taste it again a few hours later at the end of the lab tasting session, I found that its freshness had faded and it even seemed a tad oxidized suggesting that it is really at it’s peak of drinkability. As long as it holds up, this is a great buy, but drink soon. Tasted once. CSPC 12990
