PINOT NOIR 2018 Sonoma County
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer HEAD HIGH WINES
This NEW in Vintages High Head Sonoma Pinot Noir may well become the hottest item in the May 1st release. Itís loaded - and I mean loaded - with flavours that may well knock your socks off. Juicy, smoky, ripe raspberries and black cherries leap to mind. Medium-deep purple in colour, the nose is extremely fruity - a raspberry-cherry fruit cocktail. Dry, medium bodied, very bright, ripe, cherry-raspbery jubilee flavours with a lingering, somewhat smoky, faintly earthy, meaty, cedary finish. OK it may taste a tad Zinny for some, but in a nice way. Anyone used to drinking classic Burgundy will wonder what the heck is this. Who cares? Although not for everyone, my guess is that a lot more people are going to love than tsk-tsk it! It has 14.5% alcohol and 2.4 g/L residual sugar with a screwcap closure. CSPC 12892

TASTING NOTE: Head High is the second label for Three Sticks, whose 2017 Price Family Estates Pinot from the Sonoma Coast won a Best in Show at the 2019 Decanter World Wine Awards. If your pockets don't stretch that far, this is a delicious wine for half the price, sourced from top Sonoma County parcels including Durell, Wildcat and Sangiocomo Family Vineyards. Perfumed violets, lifted summer pudding aromas and flavours and bright acidity make this a really quaffable style, supported by gentle wood smoke notes from 10 months in French oak barrels, 25% new. Drinking window: 2020-2024. Score - 92 (Tina Gellie, decanter.com, July 7, 2020) Price $ 24.95
