Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer BRICCO ROSSO
Assessed from a bottle purchased at the LCBO. This early ripening 100% Dolcetto from Piedmont has a deep intense purple colour. The nose is slightly spicy with ripe plums and some sandalwood notes. Dry, medium bodied, slightly spicy, nicely structured, tangy, slightly dusty, faintly stewed, plum-crancherry flavours with a lingering, crisp, very slightly bitter, somewhat rustic finish. Perfect with a parmesan-topped beef ragu, this grape is also known as Charbono in California. It has 14% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number L.010273 on the back label. The 2016 (not presented) was released on February 22, 2020 at $15.95. CSPC 705699

TASTING NOTE: [100% Dolcetto.] Bright if toasty, savoury black fruit nose; lively. Rich and succulent, this is full of fruit, finely tuned by some well-judged tannins. This has quite good acidity for Dolcetto, and is more complex than usual. Invigorating and long. I'm not usually a fan of oaked Dolcetto, but this works well thanks to the excellent fruit quality. Drinking window: 2019-2023. Score - 92 (Stephen Brook, decanter.com, Oct. 29, 2019) Price $ 16.95
